About organisation

The Art Therapy and Socialisation Institute VYTA develop its activity along several lines, particularly the therapeutic, educational-training, social, entertaining and scientific. VYTA is an acronym of a phrase “Veidas Yra Tavo Atspindys” (a face is your reflection) saying that as water reflects one’s, thus every creative work and action reflects some part of its creator – a part of the true face. Institute VYTA implements various creative, social, educational, cultural projects, cooperates with other organisations. In its activity it often refers to the Turkish art of marbling – ebru – the tradition inscribed on the UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. It is a highly affective and attractive form of art for the easy and good result, its dynamic process, an unusual and surprising play of colours and shapes. The marbling is done in a special bowl on condensed water using a paint brush and special sticks to form ornaments. The dyes used for marbling are natural and traditional. The marbling is both a joyful and interesting activity, but also a therapeutic process for painters. No special preparation or artistic skills are required – anyone can do it. The process positively affects self-esteem, the hand motion, concentration develops. It is a quick and dynamic process, while the creation on water surface is transferred on paper in few seconds. The creations are unique and exceptional reflecting everyone’s natural creativity. While working in pairs on a particular task such skills as communication and negotiation are developed.
