About organisation

The stained-glass manufacture in the Stiklių Street was founded as a continuation of the city’s urban heritage tradition. The founder of the gallery-workshop, the artists and craftsmen seek to draw attention to the stained-glass as monumental art, which makes Lithuania known in Europe and the world, to reveal the beauty of the stained-glass, its unfading value and uniqueness. Artists, working at the gallery, provide professional consultations, hold demonstrations of stained-glass installment process, tell about the history of the tradition. The organisation especially focuses on educational activities for children and school pupils. The projects aimed at introducing the stained-glass tradition and teaching basic skills are implemented. The museum activity is also carried on – drawings, schemes, sketches, fragments of the classical masters are exhibited along with contemporary art works. The activity of the gallery-workshop is aimed at educating the admirers of this tradition and the artists.

Projects

Creative workshop “Stiklo keliu” (On the glass road), “Stiklo dirbtuvės vitražo muziejuje” (Glass workshop at the stained-glass museum), “XXI amžiaus stiklioriai” (Glass craftsmen of the 21st c.). A theoretical part of educational programme is organised at the expositional premises of the gallery, creative workshops are held in a specially equipped laboratory, historical excursions are held at the museum, installed in the cellars of the gallery. At creative workshops school children find out more on the ancient crafts, history of glass and stained-glass, particularities of technological processes. The educational activity of the manufacture teaches quality leisure, fosters historical values, heritage preservation and safeguarding, and promotes creativity and innovative ideas. Workshops are organised by professional glass and stained-glass artists. The cycle of exhibitions “Duetai” (Duos) (2018–2019) presented works created in pairs of 8 professional artists coming from different fields. Project curator - Eglė Rakauskaitė. In 2019 the stained-glass manufacture closely collaborated with the Chair of Monumental Painting of the Vilnius Academy of Fine Arts. The stained-glass manufacture is the partners of the Vilnius Academy of Fine Arts in implementing the project “Improving quality of studies by enhancing students’ entrepreneurial skills”.
