About organisation
“AmatAUK” (the title is a play of words amatas (a craft) and augti (to grow)) is an organisation, which activity is aimed to introduce a contemporary human being with the traditions and crafts and discover one’s roots. The organisation organises educational programmes – both public practices and workshops for private groups or interested people. Children day camps are organised in summer, where children are attractively introduced to traditional culture. “AmatAUK” also carries out various projects, cooperates with similar organisations.
Projects
The implementation of the project “Craft in the Laboratory of the City” (2018) consisted of 11 free educational workshops in Vilnius, hosted by the Community’s House “Miesto laboratorija” (Laboratory of the City) at the Sapiegos’ Park. The participants were introduces to traditional crafts, their history and adaptation possibilities in daily life, also had a chance to produce various goods. The project encouraged acquiring new skills in the field of traditional culture, stimulated interest in ethnic culture, raised motivation to continue creative activities after the workshops, encouraged to transmit knowledge to other family members, but also contributed to the stimulation of the sense of sociality.
