About organisation

The club “Miško broliai” (Forest brothers) is settled in a forest, the former Kopūstėliai’ rocket base. After having adjusted the territory and part of the buildings, the club now actively organises educational events on the topic of partisan war, also cultural events, and children camps. The club aims to educate about the history of Lithuanian partisan movement, the post-war Lithuanian cultural life and to contribute to the formation of young people’ moral, civic and patriotic orientation. By following the educational routes of “Miško broliai” visitors lively experience the post-war partisan movement and the cultural life of Lithuania of that time. The expositional underground shelter presents the history of the exile of Lithuanians, the resistance confrontational fights and daily life. Visitors are shown the film “Partisan War in Lithuania 1944–1953”, it is then analysed and discussed. The post-war history is also approached seeing the partisan attires, symbols, technical equipment, the shelter. Finally, visitors are introduces to the songs of Lithuanian partisans, games, prejudices. The educational session taking place in a 6 ha territory of the Kopūstėliai forest is adapted to people with movement and hearing disabilities.

Projects

Since very foundation the club “Miško broliai” is an active participant of traditional events in Ukmergė: it annually participates at the celebration of the town, the international live history festival “Deltuva’s Fight”, the live history festival “Pabaiskas’ Fight”, events to celebrate the Lithuanian Army’s Day, the theatrical commemoration of the President’s Antanas Smetona birthday “Smetoninės”. In the headquarters of the club – the territory of the former Kopustėliai rocket base the annual camps for children and educational excursions with cultural programme for people of all ages are organised.
