About organisation

The Lithuanian Youth Ramuva (Assembly) unites young people interested in Lithuanian cultural heritage, living traditions. Young people search for live cultural expressions, seek to popularise them in public educational and practical activities.

Projects

“Amžinoji ugnis” (Eternal fire) was a few-year project, which aimed to celebrate the 16th of January (The Lithuanian Independence Day) by massively chanting one particular sutartinė (traditional polyphonic song). To prepare for the action the organisers had been visiting schools in various locations in Lithuania, teaching kids to chant the sutartinė, while for the final action they had all come to celebrate and chant in Vilnius. The seasonal get-together – the year-cycle songs are sung. Partnership with the Lithuanian Union of Ethno-Cultural Educators in implementing the project “Keliauk Lietuvoje” (Travel in Lithuania): children were taught about ethnography, its methodology and importance. The organisation took part in the evaluation of children research works. Visits to various cultural festivals, where members of the Lithuanian Youth Ramuva popularized Lithuanian national heritage by offering practical activities (songs, dances). The tours to remote corners of Lithuania were organised, aimed to spread the information on the distinctiveness of these locations, local lifestyles and traditions. Ramuva contributed to the solemn procession of Vytis (an official emblem of Lithuania) banners on the Aukuras Hill (Altar Hill) in Kernavė on the occasion of the 6th of July 2019 – the Lithuanian State’s Day, also to the organisation of the Milda worshiping celebration in Dvarčiškiai village and to the commemoration of the 13th January at the bonfire on the Gediminas grave hill with songs.
